The blog looks good. I'm passing it on to my friend who's about to move to Korea. The posts on the Korean writing system were really interesting to me; I've got enough on my plate with Japanese and Chinese, but I still like learning about that kind of thing. (Looks like you might need to get a spam-nuker, though. I'm using WordPress for my projects, not MT, so I can't suggest one.) Anyway, good luck and I hope you keep the blog going.

*pours soju for dg, pours some out for Hunter*

Andrew, I've nuked the cat listing on the homepage, and I'm thinking about better pointers to the comments footer. I wasn't even going to have comments here originally, and the number of posts that will have them enabled might be in the minority. Still, good points.

Not sure what to do about the FOUC on OSX, but I'll dig into it. I think I'm doing some unwise things with background images that might be the culprits.

Shane

(1) I will, but not entirely. Lke I said, I love me quite a bit, but I do want to make this a useful resource.
(2) Prune? Have you gone mad?
(3) The entries extant, as I said (I think) are repurposed and republished from my personal site. They are snarky, sure, but not overly negative, I don't think. You'r right -- laudatory isn't a mode I do well, or care to,

Nice design, great concept and laudable intentions. If I might be so bold as to offer a few discourteous remarks,...

(1) Yes, do move the focus from your own dear self to Korea pronto unless you want this site to be lumped in with every other 'my life in Korea' blog. You've got one of those already.

(2) It is not necessary to tell us 'I love to write (and I like to think I'm pretty damn good at it)'. We can tell, honey. In other words, prune.

(3) I'm delighted to hear your resolve not to join the chorus of K-bashing. However, the sample of half a dozen entries I just read suggest your rhetoric is more engaged when panning than lauding, spoiling this good intention.

Good luck with the site.

Ah, found the ads, on the main page.

The link to advertising on the about page is 404.

Also, the I-can-be-contacted link on the about-me page leads back to the about-me page.

Hey Chris.

Nice. The effort shows, both in the attention to detail on the design and the writing. I'll happily send some time reading through. I hope that piece you wrote on jeong makes it in; I found it deeply relevant at the time and it remains one of my favourites.

On Safari (2.04, OS X 10.4.7) there's a FOUC (flash of unstyled content) of maybe half a second.

And I assume the lengthy category listing before the content is deliberate. I guess that's the only bit of the design I'm not sure about; the big spaces between sections. Like, there'd be 700 pixels between the end of a piece and the start of the comments. Sure there's visual clues, but one could get lost along the way.

What else? Oh yeah: what ads? I haven't seen one yet.

Don't worry about the kimchi, for I've never really acquired the taste. Chilli squid yes. Beer is good tho'.

Anyways, my sincerest, deepest respek for having the courage, energy and persistence to not just get this thing off the ground but to do it damn well.
